New US Dollar Coins

The US mint has designs for 4 new one-dollar coins. The good news: They're really funny, as mocked by [livejournal.com profile] theferrett.

The bad news: the mint should've spent a bit more for their designs. :(

I knew they were doing this, but I hadn't seen the actual images, except for the Liberty on the other side.

The Madison is especially awful. His cheeks!

I can't believe how incredibly awful those are.

How can a country as great as Those* United States of America not be able to make a decent dollar coin? Is their mint asleep?

Washington's eyes creep me out. Adams does look like an puffy effeminate man. Jefferson isn't so bad, but he *does* look smug. Madison is melting, and two-thirds of his mustache looks like plastic.
