For your convenience, here's summer.

It's 20 degrees C again today. I'm glad I biked, and I'm glad I wore shorts- it's a bit too warm, actually.

I was just the recipient of the best flirting-line I think I've heard in a while.

Setting: Tim Hortons, Student Life Centre.
Me: Medium single-single please.
Woman behind counter: Ah, a single-single guy. But are you a single, single-single?
Me: ... That'd be taken, single-single. But thanks.

Heh. I wonder how often Tim's employees try using that line. Not one I've heard before, but I imagine behind the counter, that would be different.

Single-single? Interesting. I usually use "Regular" when I want single-single.

I've heard both, but I guess I could see "regular" maybe having a bit more currency. :)

Single-single is safer. Regular sometimes gets people excited about black coffee. (I'm not touching that one, although David Zucker did about 27 years ago.)

That's some awesome flirting though: so cheesy, yet actually somewhat original (at least I've never heard it before either). Might have worked on me, were I a) the recipient, and b) not also a taken single-single. (And I'm a double-double anyway, which I'm also not going to touch.)

Yes. She definitely got points for it- hope she doesn't use it on all her single-single customers. ;)

And I'm a double-double anyway, which I'm also not going to touch.

Yes, that's another sort of proposition entirely.

(...Did the doublemint gum commercials ever make it to Canadian TV? I have to assume so. Why did I bring that up? Oh, no reason, 'cept a joke I could've made wouldn't make much sense without that context.)

It's 28 in my studio. This is at least 4 degrees too warm. I've got blankets in the windows. I'm going to have to pop the weatherseals just so I don't perish tomorrow. Dammit!

OTOH, the college kids sure are yummy.

If I were to dynamite the SLC, or developed x-ray vision, I could see the volleyball court from my office.

Hmph.

Woo hoo! That weather should be arriving on the East Coast tomorrow (or soon).

Heh... I wonder what her reaction would be to my usual coffee order: "Blonde and bitter, please."

[identity profile] da-lj.livejournal.com 2007-03-28 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Have you ever gotten a positive reaction to that order?

At Starbucks I ask for a small regular.
