Dykes to Watch Out For

Any non-local DTWOF fans out there willing to be on the lookout for something for me?

Alison Bechdel has published a promotional hard-copy of The Daily Distress, the fictional newspaper from her comic, to promote her new book, The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For.

I figure it won't be too tricky for me to buy a copy of the book, but I would really like to get my hands on a copy of the promotional paper as well. I've asked her if she's willing to publish it as a PDF, but expect the publishers won't go for that. I expect our local market isn't big enough to get copies of The Daily Distress and I won't be in Toronto for a while (and who knows when Toronto will get copies anyway; might be a few weeks).

So- if you run across an extra copy: and you don't mind getting it to me, I'd be appreciative.

If you get a copy and can *scan* it for me, I'll be even more appreciative. :)

You don't want to just send a SASE? You would even have the choice of using a US return address, I imagine, if you weren't in a hurry.

I had been thinking that was going to be tricky since the SASE needed US stamps- then I realized we had a stash of them left over. And I was in PA this last week anyhow, so I brought them along and sent the SASE. We'll see if Alison ran out yet!

I'm sad that she has ended the strip for the forseeable future (maybe forever?!)

:-(

Yeah, it does.

Apparently it isn't fiscally worth it anymore, because fewer and fewer papers are running it. And it's been online for free.

I think we should email her and ask about a direct subscription-based model.
