rrr... PSA

Canada Post is increasing Letter rates to $0.51 on January 15th. Didn't they just do that? Didn't I just use up my 1-cent stamps and buy my first set of $0.50 stamps last week?

Yes.

Did they have a sign at the post office?

Noooo....

*sigh*

Jeez, I still have some 49-cent stamps. Thankfully I have lots of 1-cent ones!

don't they have a policy of a 1¢ raise every year? it's been that way for as long as i can remember.

never mind, i just googled it: it's indexed to inflation (http://ccna.ca/news/details.asp?contentID=190), so as long as that stays between 1.5% and 3%, the allowable price raise will be 1¢ -- and apparently the bank of canada's goal is for 2% inflation per annum, so you'd better continue to stock up on 1¢ stamps.

Interesting. I didn't know that; and I even read a daily paper. :) Possibly not to well, though; I tend to skim the business section...
