Gorgeous satellite photo

Our local Perl group has got a guest speaker [1] coming in a month from Midland Ontario.

That's got to be one of the most gorgeous google-maps satellite photo I've seen- high-res countryside in autumn, peak of leaf-turning season, and it looks like sunset. Sigh.

[1] For the curious, he's talking about AJAX and Perl, repeating his talk this month from toronto.pm, though currently you have to check his stuff out of the above svn directory to see the slides yerself.

Nice

That is really cool. I wonder if after a certain amount of time, the google satellite photos will be selected for beauty.

Wouldn't that be great.

I'm gonna submit this to googlesightseeing.com because they don't have anything else similar under "forests"...

That's a rather random chunk of high-res imagery. There's like nothing there in specific for there to be high-res imagery for. The imagery for London, ON sucks :(

Yeah, I was wondering about that, too.

Hey [livejournal.com profile] melted_snowball - when you're at google tomorrow, can ya ask them? ...oh wait, you were at google today. damn. ;)

The guy I chatted with had no idea why some things get more detail than others.

boats are cool

One of those boats is my father's. I zoomed in, but it's tough to tell them apart in person, so from space it appears impossible.

neat!

Heh. Take a look in Google Earth, from a side -view? :)
