Last night d. made nutmeg ice cream.

I suggested, after his post this evening about profiteroles, that the two would probably go well together.



No sooner did I leave to take a movie back to the video store, he has whipped up a batch. And yes, they went together quite nicely, with cocoa, chocolate sauce, and a bit of nutmeg on top.

They really are amazingly easy.

Cream puffs are just water with butter and a little sugar, heated until the butter melts. Add flour, beat it until it forms a ball, and then beat eggs into it. Pipe (or use a spoon) to drop onto a cookie sheet. Cook 20 minutes at 425 degrees. Turn off oven, slash open the puffs, return to oven for 5 minutes. Fill. Eat.

A-ha, your recipe sounds even easier than the one in the Joy of Cooking -- I'll definitely give it a try one of these days.
