Put the pair with one holey sock away in the laundry room. Sooner or later, another pair will develop holes, so you toss the two bad socks and make a good pair. That works because I usually buy a bunch of identical socks. When the last pair develops a hole in one sock, I toss the pair. So I both help the economy by buying socks when I could maybe fix them and destroy the economy by trashing socks that could be fixed (by not rewarding better materials that could be fixed, or would last longer etc because I'm buying the cheaper stuff, 'cuz y'know, it will get trashed anyway). It's very zen. But I don't do it for that reason, I do it because I'm a lame ass. :-P
(And yes, I'm catching up from over a week of not reading LJ. Which is why I haven't been answering surveys or telling friends "Happy Birthday". Again, 'cuz I'm lame. Not that that is a good excuse, but it's true.)
