A few weeks ago in the car, I heard a catchy pop song called Grace Kelly (by Mika). The video is fun- and so is the video for Big Girl (You are Beautiful).

'n I figured maybe some people on my friends-list would agree. ;)

I have been playing YouTube videos for Lollipop and Love Today over and over.

Big Girl made me literally cry big fat tear drops. I think I'm in love with this boy.

Catchy, innit?

You may have seen the video interview of it already.. but he says he wrote "lollypop" as advice to his younger sister. And "love today" was written after he fell in love, or something like that.

I can't decide whether to buy the CD on itunes or get the physical CD with that neat-o cover artwork.

Hee hee. I've read a few interviews and he seems like a very interesting guy; in addition to being pretty. :)

So, since you and [livejournal.com profile] dr_tectonic haven't heard of him I guess he hasn't become an American phenom yet. He was all the rage in the UK at the beginning of the year. I hope he's successful enough on this side of the pond.

Indeed. That is certainly how I'd (hope to) treat a mugger. I've participated in a few workshops on practical violence diffusing and there is anacdotal evidence of people having success doing just about the same when faced with violent situations. As terrifying as it must be.

I'm impressed with those folks presence of mind, certainly.

He IS very very pretty. I don't do much popular music, so this is the first I've heard or seen of him.

Huh- according to his wikipedia page his Grace Kelly song hit 2nd place in Canadian charts. And 57th in US charts, along with top-5 all over Europe. So, it's quite possible that not so many people in the US have heard of him!

I'll take this opportunity to randomly pimp a pop song I've really been enjoying: It's about everything, by Ambre McLean (MP3 available from the linked page). She's from Guelph, and I haven't heard much about her or the rest of her music. But I really like this song.

Mika's really cool, btw. His music is like a big bunch of brightly-coloured balloons. And the comparisons to Freddie Mercury are definitely apt.

...It's a bit jazzy for my tastes, though it is reasonably catchy.
