da: A smiling human with short hair, head tilted a bit to the right. It's black and white with a neutral background. You can't tell if the white in the hair is due to lighting, or maybe it's white hair! (Default)

You've probably already seen this but Thai police are using Hello Kitty Punishment. I wonder how well it will work.

...There's a machine extruding curbs on the roadbed under reconstruction near my office. In goes wet concrete, out comes fully-shaped and properly placed curbs. No wooden forms, no human shaping of the curbs at all as far as I can tell. I have to admit I'm sort of entranced- I had no idea they could do that. They've nearly finished with both sides of the road, no more than a day and a half after they started. We have the technology!

Paprika looks like it could be a lot of fun. If also quite weird.

Have you watched it make a driveway entrance yet? Also cool. It just squeezes out a lower curb.

Cool! Unfortunately I've only seen the output. It was sitting idle when I came in.

Ooh, that movie looks really fun. Thanks for the mention.

Also, the Thai story was cute :)

Oh good, hopefully that means that everything'll be ready soon to move the iXpress to the useful side of Ring Road in both directions.

Having seen the output up close while I was going to get a slice of pizza, I'm underwhelmed. There's big chunks missing.

Maybe they'll go back and fix it by hand afterwards.

Maybe we'll get useful information regarding machine rooms around the same time.

I prefer to think of the cleverness that they can make it stop and start again 5 feet later... I think the sewer grates got in the way...

Your machine rooms are being done by the crew working on the Ring Road?...

No, but they're both contracted by the same group.

Remind me some day to tell you about Adventures In Moving Racks Of Clusters Into DC3556 (Over That Stupid Hump Plant Operations Insist On Putting Between Carpets And Floors).

OK. ...there will be beers at our house on Saturday, if that helps. ;)

Sounds like it would've been nice to have a dab of concrete to smooth it all out.

Awesome.

...I won't tell you how many times I've watched the trailer. :)
