Thursday, 7 October 2004 02:58 pmThis morning, I went to take my towel off the bathroom rack and discovered a large moth hiding underneath. It was about an inch long, with grey-brown wings and a grey-blue torso. Really quite pretty. It was vibrating its wings and its feelers. I watched it for a few seconds, marveling. What did it think it would find inside our house, other than bright lights at night-time? What motivates night-insects, anyway?
Then I tried to catch it to put it outside. It was fast, and didn't cooperate when I tried to move it onto a newspaper. So I went for a box. When I returned, it had vanished. Through a nearly-shut door, or somewhere in the bathroom that I couldn't shake or scare it from. And I marveled again. Insect: 1, human: 0.
d's not gonna be happy when he finds out there's a big moth in the house. :-/
