Weird thievery
Sunday, 21 August 2005 03:36 pmLast night, somebody went into our car, which we forgot to lock, and traded the change in our ashtray for... an umbrella. Huh?
This is starkly in contrast with the two other times when somebody broke into the car for the change, and made off with the ashtray as well, causing a fair bit of inconvenience, since the replacements cost $80 or so. This guy left our 3 CDs, dan's library book, our dog's spare leash, the car's registration and insurance papers, and a bag of pretzels. I would've expected him to at least take the pretzels, but I guess he was in a hurry.
This could've been worse, if we'd managed to forget to lock the inside door to the garage. He also opened up the garage using the clicker in the car. And was presented with an entirely empty garage. I expect he took off then, since the door isn't silent. We still didn't hear it from upstairs.
In any case, I'm counting my blessings, today.

d. just called to say that he and our two houseguests are on their way back from Niagara Falls. And that "eight year olds are exhausting." I've finished straightening up in preparation, so I started organizing my closet, to give them a little closet-space. I think I'll try for a nap.
