Sunday, 30 April 2006 11:14 pm...and I'm home again. Quite tired, but otherwise OK.
This morning I had another walk with mom in the woods, which was good. She told me on this trip that she really likes my sweetie. Actually, the way she put it was, "You know, I'm really glad you hooked up with him."
In the afternoon my brothers, parents, and I descended en masse on my Watertown-area grandmother (dad's bio-mom) who lives by herself at age 86. If nothing else, I can be confident I have fairly good genes for longetivity.
My favourite moment of the afternoon: mom mentioned the photos she and I went through yesterday, and remarked how similar my brother Aaron and I looked when we were little. "You were both tow-headed." I made a grimace and asked Aaron whether he remembered before they amputated. He said, thankfully no he didn't, and we're just lucky there were no scars. The others picked up on it pretty quickly, and there was brief discussion of whether any of us had heard that phrase out loud versus just reading it in books. I'm pretty sure I hadn't; and it does sound weird out loud.
But after a few moments Aaron asked, "Hey, are you sure you weren't holding us upside down?"
I like my family, some times.
The drive back was long but uneventful; I listened to four episodes of "This American Life". Actually, I listened to five today. When I got into the car to drive to my grandmother's, it was playing on the radio. I was quite confused about that, since I hadn't hooked up the ipod yet.
And now to bed, for I have work tomorrow.
