Saturday Morning
Saturday, 7 October 2006 01:12 pmThis morning we hiked in Elora, but before that, a big scare.
d. opened the garage door and Rover went out to pee, but very quickly there was a loud yell and the sound of a car zooming by. Our across-the-street neighbour was standing on the other side of the street, looking shaken. A car had zoomed down our street, narrowly missing him, and when he shouted, it swerved and came close to hitting Rover.
The car stopped at the end of the street, and the driver got out and dropped off the collection of The Record free papers. Our neighbour walked down to have a talk with him. Our neighbour was a bit shaken but otherwise OK. Rover's fine, of course, though we were a bit rattled too.
I've got the driver's license number. Do I call management at the paper? The police? Not sure. I'm certain I'm not letting Rover out the front door off leash, because she is too friendly about people in the street, and isn't wary of cars. That was a close one.
The hike in Elora was super. Lots of colour on the trees, and two hours of hiking did both d. and I good. Rover had a blast, rooting in the underbrush and wading in the river.
Shortly, we're off to a small party at
tbiedl's for her spouse J's birthday.
