My mom's laptop froze, yesterday, and now won't boot. As best we can tell, its hard-drive also crashed.
I didn't back up my laptop before the trip.
I bought a new SIM for my phone, at a 7-Eleven off the interstate near Rochester. It's apparently busted. I haven't been able to reach customer-support, though I'm not spending a lot of effort on the task. I think I get to drive back to the same 7-Eleven on the way back home.
This evening, a thunderstorm whipped through town just as we were leaving the restaurant. It was a "strike of lightning every ten seconds" sort of storm. My parents and I sat in the car for 20 minutes and talked. It was a good conversation.
When the storm let up, we drove back to EcoVillage. I spent a while watching the lightning from our high vantage point on the hill. There were a number of spectacular bolts, cloud-to-cloud, covering the sky, looking like a science experiment at the Boston Museum of Science. I caught one on my cameraphone- it was more impressive in person, but here it is.
