I don't tend to think betel tastes much like soap- more like... hm. Maybe I'm thinking of tamarind. Or maybe betel does taste like tamarind. Hm. I guess it is a bit soapy.
Soap isn't a food quality I usually think of, but I suppose lots of things do taste like soap.
