LJ friends-page via RSS
Monday, 26 November 2007 07:05 amI just wrote up a step-by-step recipe for turning your friends page into an RSS feed, including friends-locked entries. It requires being a paid member to set it up for your account, but it should still work after a paid account lapses.
Your login and password are stored by your RSS reader (just the same as they are stored in your browser- it doesn't leak protected entries any more than using your browser with cookies does (this was one of my first concerns).
The top of the page is the original instructions I based my recipe on, which require reading/browsing a bunch of FAQs and making educated guesses. I made the guesses so you don't have to. :) It is still, unfortunately, an annoyingly complicated process, but perhaps it will be useful to somebody out there who wants to use RSS to read their friends page.
