- As a nervous tic, I fingerspell ASL. Occasionally.
- I was reading at a 3rd-grade level when I started kindergarten
- I've been to the top of the Statue of Liberty four times.
- I lived in an apartment over the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway until I was 5.
- My parents both taught in NYC: mom taught law, dad taught history. They quit and became maple syrup farmers in upstate NY.
- My parents claim that after we moved, I would stand by the road and wait for cars to drive past, and I would wave at them.
- I designed a number of Dungeons and Dragons campaigns and bought all the AD&D books, but I have played exactly one actual game of D&D.
- Briefly in high-school, I called myself a Christian, but stopped when I decided it was solely to satisfy Pascal's Wager
- That period coincided with attending Beaver Camp, run by Mennonites. Located on Beaver River.
- I rock-climbed from age 17 to 25ish.
- I've ice-climbed, but I gave that up after a season.
- I've never broken a bone, despite a few serious childhood accidents
- I'm missing a bit of my right pointer finger
- I feel dreadfully under-travelled. I've been to about 1/3 the US states, three Canadian provinces, the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Italy.
- I was on the internet in 1991, and using BBSes before that. I used a shared Unix account at MIT and a free dialup account, when such things existed.
- When I applied to go away to school, I sent queries to 'soc.bi' newsgroup to find out which schools had a good atmosphere for LGBT students. That was one of the reasons I went to Cornell over Rochester Institute of Technology, which I had bee favoring (yes really).
- It took me just under an hour to finish this list.
- but I'm lazy; I cribbed 10 of these things from an unposted meme from 2006.
- I've been pickpocketed once; on the subway in Manhattan.
- I type 70 words a minute.
- I have no problem taking a nap as long as I think I have 30 minutes without being disturbed.
- But I can't nap longer.
- I read on public transit- I have a hard time staring off into space.
- I don't meditate, but I do regularly take part in Quaker Meeting for Worship, which looks quite similar from the outside.
- I'm told I hvae funny interjections. I say "rats" and "goodness." Occasionally.

That is a lot of traveling. As far as I am concerned. I have been to Canada - Niagra Falls twice when I was a kid, Florida once and to about 10 FGC Gatherings. And Vermont and Cambridge. That is about it. Not a traveled person. But I hang around with very nice f/Friends.

Date: Wednesday, 18 February 2009 06:14 am (UTC)Have you ever meditated? What do you think is different about MfW? For me the only reason they are different is because I usually meditate by myself, and I usually have MfW with other people...but I've definitely meditated in groups, and had some very interesting MfWs with nobody but me, God, and trees.
My parents wanted to hold me back from kindergarten for a year, because they felt my social skills sucked too much. (I told you they never liked me much, didn't I?) My preschool teacher intervened...she refused to allow them to send me back to preschool when I was already reading chapter books (you know, instead of playing with the other kids ;-) ) and knew how to use a computer. Which books were your favorites then? I must've read Charlotte's Web and half the Roald Dahl books that year...my parents finally had to take The Witches away from me because I would read it over and over again and every time I read it I would have nightmares, no matter how many times I read it.
