...some people have wood fireplaces, some people have gas fireplaces, we've been the early-adopters who have one of them cell-biomatter fiber (fibre?) fireplaces. You used to call it cardboard. Hah.
Plusses: It goes with any decor. And if you want a bigger fire, hey, just draw it bigger. :)
Er. OK, it's pretty ugly. But boy, it's better than it used to look, and this picture barely does it justice (before we moved in and got rid of the 3 shades of green in the living room):
