da | Saturday morning, upstate NY

I'm at my parents' house, spending the weekend with them and remembering my Grandmother, who died on Thursday. We are all doing pretty well; family has been contacted, mom's 1st cousins are contacting each of their branches of the family, my mom's in pretty good spirits. She and I have been going through some old photos.

Personally, I'm doing well; I'm keeping my hands busy with dishes and fixing things, and I'm about to nap.

The drive here was OK; 6 hours including stop-and-go in 401 rush-hour. I crossed the border at the Thousand Islands, and the last 90 minutes felt like auto-pilot. Got out of the car, looked up, dropped my bags... there are so many stars on a clear night here. I was thinking about this a few nights ago when I was walking Rover and looking at stars at home; but memory doesn't pack the oomph of how beautiful the sky is here.

And how smelly the fields are right now. Ah, farm country.

But right now it's good to be here.
