I'd like to welcome [livejournal.com profile] flydi and [livejournal.com profile] lee_ellen, two very dear friends of dan's and mine from Ithaca who just got their LJ accounts this week.

Together with [livejournal.com profile] sulle_sulle, [livejournal.com profile] fyddlestyx, [livejournal.com profile] annoak, [livejournal.com profile] melted_snowball, and [livejournal.com profile] katwrites, this makes a great little GLBT Quaker contingent. :)

My head hurts already. :)

Big F Friend, little f friend, oh-oh, we've run out of differentiators.

φriend?
f'riend?

(If I've lost anyone here: in Quaker circles, people talk about being a Friend (as in, member of the Religious Society of Friends). Sometimes abbreviated "big-f Friend or little-f friend" to differentiate the normal sense of the word.

Now we've got a third sense to keep track of. Somehow, this had never occurred to me. Eep. :)

Welcome, [livejournal.com profile] says_simon, a F/friend of Cait's is a F/friend of mine. :)

I was thinking friend in the LJ-sense. I do think of Cait as a friend in the relationship-sense, even though I've never met her in real life (I would love to go to an Artsy-Fartsy night). I don't know enough Quaker-lingo to describe myself in that sense. Maybe there is a FAQ somewhere.

I need espresso.

http://www.faqs.org/faqs/Quaker-faq/ , though it doesn't mention big-f / little-f. Don't worry about it though; like any friendly community, people will stop and explain if you have any questions. :) Awesome that your Meeting is doing "Your Money or Your Life." It's a really great book/series.

Another URL: http://flgbtqc.quaker.org/ is a group that might interest you (Friends for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Concerns).

We're meeting in North Carolina in February; and in Wisconsin at the end of June (hm, about the same time you're possibly moving?). Newcomers are very welcome, and there are funds to get people to the Gatherings if they've never been before, even if they're newcomers to Quakerism.

(& I'm website co-editor for that site).

Anyhow, just a bit of information to munch on with your espresso. :)
