Tracking packages is addictive.

The (ebayed, seriously discounted) SoundStation speakerphone I ordered for the Quaker Meeting is on a truck in Sacramento. ETA 5 days.

The (pleasantly affordable) 160gb disk upgrade for my laptop is in Vancouver. ETA also 5 days. 7 days from now, I should have 90gb free and a 100gb external drive in a tiny case.

*refresh* *refresh* *pout*

Now if only I had a tracking number for my briefcase. I haven't seen it since Sunday, and it's not in any of its usual storage-places. Anybody seen it?

A few times, when I've made significant purchases (which I almost always have ship to me at work), I've set up a page that embeds the FedEx (or whichever shipper) tracking page in an iframe and refreshes it every 60 seconds. On a couple of occasion I've then set that up as my Active Desktop on my computer at work.

Heh; that's... pretty hardcore. :)

I suppose I could do something similar with GeekTool (the mac daemon to embed something in the background.) Though, really, just refreshing the browser tab is also somewhat satisfying. :)

*sigh* The disk upgrade's a bust b/c I ordered the wrong disk... but at least I found my briefcase. That's something.
