Monday, 29 January 2007 10:01 pmI seem to have fallen into one of those ruts of not posting because I've got too much to post.
Oh well, what better way out, than one step at a time?
A few weeks ago I ebayed a speakerphone for $100 US. It looked like a great deal; it's one of these. The thing showed up, and it turned out they sent the wrong power-supply. Oops. I was all ready to get annoyed at the seller, but he did all the right things; apologizing, giving me his FedEx account number to ship it back to his company, and promising the replacement part sent just as soon as tracking showed I'd sent the one. Honest mistake, and I checked that the phone powers up, even if I can't use it.
And today I still have the power-supply, because their first choice shipper (FedEx Ground) can't pickup unless all of the paperwork is already filled in; and the seller couldn't make FedEx's website give them a shipping bill for a Canadian address. Grr. I almost sent it to them FedEx air, but realized what forms the FedEx Kinkos folks had given me; that was going to cost them at least $90 CAD. So tomorrow I'm going to ship it Purolator, and they'll reimburse me. Hopefully that will be the end of the saga, and our Quaker Meeting will end up with a decent speakerphone finally.
This afternoon I got a cold-call from a recruiter from Google. But the guy didn't read my resume (on LinkedIn) very well, because he thought I might be able to move to NY or California. Urm, no. But thanks for calling, really.
This evening, a great dinner with
bats22, who is departing for Boston this week. We're gonna miss him for sure.
