Our household plague victim has been more or less fever-free all evening, which is a huge improvement over this morning, when I was a bit nervous about leaving him alone in the house. He wasn't any better when I came home for lunch, still pretty much wiped out and barely mobile. I won't lie, this is sort of scary stuff- there's such a range of how bad adult chickenpox can be, and he was teetering just on the edge of dangerous fever (102F; different sources said he should go to the hospital at 103, or 104.)

But, tonight seemed to be solidly within safety margins! ...As much as he'd love to go to sleep and wake up on Friday, I'd say that's called a coma, and we don't like those. All the same, I wish he were more comfortable; this has got to suck something awful.

What else was I going to write about? Darn, I know there was something apart from boyfriend-care and cooking (tonight's dinner was pasta with turkey-sausage sauce).

Oh yeah. Music!

A year ago, I bought a great remix CD of 80s music with some nifty extended versions of a-Ha / Take On Me and Dream Acadamy / Life in a Northern Town (among others). I've just realized that a few songs I've been enjoying on Pandora come from the same compilation- volume *3* of *5*. Woah. Can I afford them? ...yes I can!

It turns out the producers are Canadian, and the discs are half as expensive on amazon.ca as on amazon.com.

...who would've figured that, eh?

[Edit to add: actually they turned out to be 2/3 as expensive. Still, I'm happy. Also, my laptop now has my music all consolidated and cleaned up in iTunes, which makes me happy as well. Just for you, a gratuitous iTunes screenshot:]

Fever greater than about 101.6 (in an adult) is generally cause for going to the ED. 103-104 in kids.

Hm.

I'm reminded of the line from Star Trek 4 where McCoy says, "Dialysis? What is this, the Dark Ages?" but this might be one of these areas where Canadian medicine doesn't quite measure up to US medicine.

They definitely didn't feel like they needed to see him with 101-something temperature. *sigh*

On the bright side... now aren't you glad we didn't go to Midwinter? ;) That would've been exciting, to say in the least.
