I just returned from a local Ladysmith Black Mambazo concert. The a capella singing was terrific, they were consumate showmen, the auditorium seemed about 95% full (seats 2000) and the audience was great- I was frankly afraid of the "dead fish" phenomenon that hit when Lily Tomlin came last summer.
So, I occasionally complain about how small this town feels, but there are times when it just works. The venue didn't feel like it was jam-packed, and I was home greeting the dog, literally 7 minutes after I left the auditorium.
And, they signed my CD. Woo!
So, if you happen to be in Ithaca or Cambridge MA (or Oakville or St. Catharines Ont.), they will be coming your way in the next few days, then that's the end of their tour.

Date: Wednesday, 20 April 2005 02:46 pm (UTC)Sorry you couldn't make it; I did wonder if you two might be somewhere in the audience (but not l/j'd about it which seemed unlikely).
Anyway, they might come back on some future tour... From the schedule, it looks like they're coming to medium size towns rather than predominantly cities, so they might just want to return to K/W.
