I just returned from a local Ladysmith Black Mambazo concert. The a capella singing was terrific, they were consumate showmen, the auditorium seemed about 95% full (seats 2000) and the audience was great- I was frankly afraid of the "dead fish" phenomenon that hit when Lily Tomlin came last summer.

So, I occasionally complain about how small this town feels, but there are times when it just works. The venue didn't feel like it was jam-packed, and I was home greeting the dog, literally 7 minutes after I left the auditorium.

And, they signed my CD. Woo!

So, if you happen to be in Ithaca or Cambridge MA (or Oakville or St. Catharines Ont.), they will be coming your way in the next few days, then that's the end of their tour.

I'd hoped to get to that show. I've enjoyed their sound for a lot of years. Sigh.

Aha. Well then, if you prefer... they were awfully boring, you shouldn't have come. :)

Sorry you couldn't make it; I did wonder if you two might be somewhere in the audience (but not l/j'd about it which seemed unlikely).

Anyway, they might come back on some future tour... From the schedule, it looks like they're coming to medium size towns rather than predominantly cities, so they might just want to return to K/W.

It was!

I'm surprised they didn't come up your way at all...

Honestly, if they did, I wouldn't have noticed. There are too many concerts here for me to keep track of them. I liked that about living in K-W -- there was usually just one thing for me to do on a given evening, making planning simple. It's like being a vegetarian in a typical restaurant. :)

It was one step better in Ithaca: not only was there only one thing to see, but you'd see lots of people you knew at it, too. [This was especially cool about shows at our favorite theatre company.] Here, there's a few more things that other people might find interesting.
