Fedex Ground is run by punters. A while back they charged me $40 x 2 processing fees on a phone and power supply I bought on eBay from the States.

They just called back saying they'd managed to not conclude this, and didn't have records of who I'd sent the faxes to at fedex ground, but they had my info, and they would love if I sent them $12.50 to get them to go away.

I paid the $12.50.

$6 of that was taxes on my order, and I'm ok with a $6 processing fee. (Though it seems fair, I realize this is naive on my part to assume they won't be back).

The woman I spoke to seemed apologetic (a first, in my interactions with Fedex Ground). She said we shouldn't have used them on such a small order; we should've used Canada Post / USPS, who don't charge brokerage fees, only the taxes. I gave her a bit of my mind about why fedex's website might be offering false terms if they suggest it's cheaper to send small packages across the border with fedex ground.

And now I want my mind back.

And my weekend (yay!).

I had more I was going to write about, but it'll wait.
