An Ookpik is nothing but hair. If you shave him, he isn't there.
He's never locked in the zoo. He lives in a warm igloo.
He can whistle and dance on the walls. He can dance on Niagara Falls.
He has nothing at all on his mind. If you scratch him, he wags his behind.
He dances from morning to night. Then he blinks. That turns out the light.
If you can find the video, it gives a great interpretation of many of the poems from a child's point of view. It looks like WPL doesn't have the VHS tape in their catalogue any more, which is a very sad thing if true.
I'm happy enough that I know what an Ookpik looks like. Bring on the citizenship test! Oh wait, I already passed that, and they didn't ask about Ookpik. Or wuz-her-name Celine, who might or might not bear a passing resemblance to an Ookpik as well.
