My citizenship ceremony isn't scheduled yet. I went downtown and sat in their big marble waiting room until they released a few more morsels of information, which I'm adding to my meger collection.

- They will give at least two weeks advance notice by mail. This is a certainty. (Which is why the person who administered the test told me "look for a letter in two weeks." Not that I was supposed to actually get it then.)

- There are ceremonies once a week, every week. except there's a slight backlog because they couldn't schedule a judge for the last week in May.

- The window is supposed to be 2-8 weeks after my citizenship test. Knowing that before would've been handy. But it's not a certainty, obviously, since my 2-week window and 8-week window have exactly one day left of overlap, which is Monday June 18th.

- I can reschedule if necessary, via their 1-800 number. I gave her the dates we were going to be away at the beginning of July, and she added them to my file. But she couldn't have two ranges of dates, so I may have to call them in July.

I'm hoping for the week fo the 18th. Or the second half of July, since we're traveling for part of the first half. But heavens only knows.

I was grumpy about the general runaround, but biking to the office in the light rain helped me feel better. And I stopped at Home Hardware, which always makes me feel better. ;)

Do you have to take a citizenship oath? Will they let you, as a Friend, affirm instead?

Interestingly enough, when dan got his citizenship, the judge had everyone repeat, "I swear or affirm to be a loyal subject of the Queen..." (or something of that sort).

So that's covered!
