I've been meaning to write these out for a while. Here are ten things that you probably don't know about me, which I am fairly convinced I do not have in common with anyone on my friends list.

I:

  1. grew up on a maple syrup farm
  2. split my time 50/50 between Brooklyn and an upstate NY town with no stoplights, until I started school.
  3. lost a fingertip in a farming accident
  4. have three living grandmothers over the age of 90
  5. built a electronic musical instrument in a shoe, but, being in 10th grade, was too embarrassed to use it for anything or even show anyone
  6. was Principal Investigator on a contract to develop software for the US Department of Education, for the six months after graduating college
  7. saw Tommy Tune rehersing backstage at Radio City Music Hall
  8. was involved in an academic building takeover as a student
  9. started and folded a 501(c)3 not-for-profit
  10. have never broken up with anyone with whom I've had more than six dates; or anyone of the gender of my long-term partner

I did number 8, at the University of New Mexico, in protest over a tuition hike. We had a big deal going, actually. We occupied the administration building of the University for about ten days.

Number 10, I've broken up with only one person with whom I've had more than six dates, so that's not quite a duplication, but pretty close.

Huh. 10 days is quite a while. Ours (Cornell) was just three days, and partly that was over a weekend. They didn't want their admin. building shut down over the work-week, so they gave in on some of the demands... (Mostly related to more resources for Latino/a students on campus).

Heady times, those. :)
