da: A smiling human with short hair, head tilted a bit to the right. It's black and white with a neutral background. You can't tell if the white in the hair is due to lighting, or maybe it's white hair! (Default)

[livejournal.com profile] roverthedog is acting strangely- clingy, won't stay settled, panting a bit, occasionally whining. At the same time, she's not listless; she jumped up when we offered a walk. And ran around like her usual lunatic self on the walk. But now, laying on my office floor, definitely not happy.

I'm 75% expecting she's OK till the morning before I call the vet; but it's that 25% that wants to call the emergency number...

Seems like she was in some sort of discomfort. Hope things went okay overnight for all three of you.

This morning? She seems fit as a fiddle, at least as fit as can be communicated from a fiddle without words.

Er, analogy failure. She's acting normal-like.

Yes. Other factors made us think of something like this too. But the pattern didn't seem to fit for that being the cause- she didn't want to settle next to us, and she wasn't sitting and staring at us (like she does when she wants us to drop what we're doing and play with her).

Something I didn't mention in the post was that when we brought her home from the vet, she had a bout of throwing up, which is also pretty uncommon.

Anyhow: she's behaving pretty normally this morning, so I'm gonna go off to work now, and be sure to pay attention to her when I get home!

(Ah, the stories she might tell if she could speak. "How could you not realize that what I really wanted all along was a little bit of duck? I just had an overwhelming urge for duck. Is that so bad?")

Yes. And she seemed not-really-herself when D. got her from the vet's after we got back from Benff; she wasn't eating at the normal times, for example. But yesterday seemed particularly odd.

I think we'll give her a day without food today; I'm working at home tomorrow, so I can check up on her then.

Not good...

..as followup to dan's comment: the skipping-a-morning-feeding does make more sense (even to me!) with our theory that she got off her normal rhythm at the vet's. Output as well as intake. And that's really enough to say on that, I think!
