Hasidic pop singers

So, I was listening to "American Top 40" on "Zee-103.5" (Yes, it's a Canadian radio station and no I don't know why it isn't Zed-103.5. Probably for the same reason that they play American Top 40. Yes, it's mostly crap pop music, but some of it amuses me.) Like, say, this.

Matisyahu is a Hasidic reggae singer from Crown Heights NYC (you know, close to the Hassid neighbourhood that birthed Curley Oxide, the Hassidic punk singer. OK, maybe you don't know. OK, here).

Anyway, Matisyahu is sort of catchy. He's also at the top of Billboard charts. I hope he continues doing well.

(I love spam subject-lines)

My weekend? Pretty good. I was alternately very lazy and somewhat productive. Which is more or less what I needed from this weekend.

Friday I noodled on da compoooter, playing with photos and chatting mostly; and went for a walk with da poooch. Did some house-cleanup, refrained from writing a todo list out of laziness.

Saturday I eventually stopped lazing and wrote a todo list, which I then mostly accomplished. Went for a longer walk with [livejournal.com profile] roverthedog in Victoria Park, where she apparently thought a swan wanted to play. She kept wagging and swimming after it. The swan was unamused. I should have broght the camera.

Last night was [livejournal.com profile] tbiedl's youngest daughter's baptism, which was only the 2nd baptism I've ever been to (the first was their 1st daughter's, three years ago at the same church.) Yay T, J, C and V!

Then, I went to the grocery store (Central Market) where I got leafletted by a little old lady with gaudy "Jesus saves" jewelry and a very earnest tone who wanted to know if (everyone around me) had accepted Jesus. For some reason, she didn't ask me. Anyway, I ignored her and bought my turkey sausage.

Today, after Quaker Meeting, I took da pooch and headed down to [livejournal.com profile] lovecraftienne & [livejournal.com profile] persephoneplace's for Games Afternoon. Much fun was had; Steve (who still doesn't have an LJ account, even though he's a World Famous Film Director) taught me the basic rules to Titan and we had a pretty good game with [livejournal.com profile] persephoneplace. Rather abruptly, my titan died just as our games-time was up, but for a while I had the strongest team on the board. Yeah, I'm going to try the computer version, which [livejournal.com profile] melted_snowball says takes 15 minutes for a game.

I feel frustrated for skipping some things on my todo list, but some of those were unessential computer things (so, OK) and others, I didn't do because I didn't have enough energy (like washing windows). But at least I did laundry/food-shopping/library/cook/bills and the beginning of yard-cleanup.
