An Indian friend of mine passed on this very cute photoset of the Nepalese festival of Tihar, which happens at the same time as Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. On the second day, which I think is today, Tihar celebrates dogs. [livejournal.com profile] roverthedog and [livejournal.com profile] browntobydog, this means you! :)

Ultimately, nope. ;) She'd enjoy the attention, but she gets a lot as it is. :)

Interesting! I noticed all the garland flowers were marigolds. I wonder if there's any significance to that? I know they have very specific significance in some cultures.

The dogs all looked very good in their garlands. I'd like to see Rover in one. And if you use marigolds, they'll look really good with her coloring. :)

Marigolds! Thanks, I had idly wondered, but I hadn't gotten around to digging and finding out myself. ...and a bit of digging later, I didn't find an answer as to whether there is significance, other than marigolds are common in India (which isn't Nepal, but likely they are common in Nepal too).
