da: A smiling human with short hair, head tilted a bit to the right. It's black and white with a neutral background. You can't tell if the white in the hair is due to lighting, or maybe it's white hair! (Default)

I just took a look at http://www.livejournal.com/misc/expunged_list.bml.

[livejournal.com profile] da2k [livejournal.com profile] da12en and [livejournal.com profile] da5 are all available. Do any of them jump out at you as a better name for me than [livejournal.com profile] da_lj? (At one time I was thinking of [livejournal.com profile] trebucher, but not only does it lack the accent to be correctly spelled, it's also prone to be confused, even though it's a cool word: trébucher: to trip, stumble)

In other news, I want a new default icon, but I can't decide whether to go photo, abstract, or manipulated photo.

None of them jump out at me.

Yeah, that was sort of my impression too. Fair 'nuff. ;)

Clearly, you should use [livejournal.com profile] s3xx_candy.

http://www.tektek.org/dream/ is one way to spend half a lunch hour, if you want to build an icon that looks vaguely like you.

I've actually always loved your username - it's one of my favourite on my f-list. But I think you should pick the one that feels great to you.

Woah. Thanks. :)

It's one of my favorites as well. I say "duh lj" like "the lj". Makes me giggle a little.

If I knew the meaning behind da2k, etc., I might find them more compelling. But I generally agree you could find an LJ name with more character and less stumbling.

I rather like your current username, myself.

Thanks, I'll probably keep it. :)

None of those jumped out at me either, although I support [livejournal.com profile] melted_snowball's suggestion.

(Trebucher's pretty cool, but it seems weird to me to use a verb as a username, which is essentially a noun.)

Agreed with both points. To me, a username is a name, so I think noun, but a verb would make you stand out, I suppose. :)

I hate the letter number combinations.

I see d4l (like i18n or l10n) is taken.

Hrm, if I liked that, it'd open up a number of possibilities:

d4n is taken (dallen)

d5n isn't (drallen, first two initials) and neither is
d9n (firstname/last) or
d15n (first/middle/last).

Though really: "here's dan, and his partner d5n". Bleh. ;)
