Have you ever received useful spam?

At the beginning of December, one got through my filters: "Have you reserved a spot for your pet?" and yes indeed, it reminded me I had forgotten to do so for over Christmas.

This morning, I got two comment-spams on my LJ, both on ancient public posts; but both were posts I had meant to go back and reconsider. Perhaps I should go back and read my old posts more often.

Just now I got a spam asking me to check my bank balance. Er, I did need a reminder to check my bank balance.

I would have said no, but your "comments on ancient posts" example reminded me that this has happened to me a couple of times. So, yes.

A useful infomercial, yes. Useful spam.. only in terms of posting about the bizarre sentences inside them, or discussing how spammers are not terribly creative. But that seems like meta-use, so probably does not count.

But what gets me is banks I don't have an account with telling me to check my balance...

There was a guy on the radio this week saying that what if there were a guy in Nigeria trying to give away $10 million - and no one believed him!
