Saturday, 13 August 2005 10:23 pmThe good:
Wonderful water at Hanlan Point on the Toronto Islands. OK scenery (people; lake; 3-masted schooner cutting through the, er, smog at the horizon). Exhibit of Douglas Copland art, including: three lifesize plastic toy soldiers, mushed and molded together at the hips. A NASA space-suit touched up with pink accents and flowers. Lego art. Meteorites resting atop beds of bronzed ramen noodles. And finally, an afternoon and very nice dinner with
purplesofa in the Distillery, talking about travel in Asia, Morocco and Yellowknife, the food that can be had in these places, relationships, and Foucault. Yay, hanging out with a couple of intellectual foodies!
...The bad:
Moderate sunburn from the beach, oops. Inexplicible sore throat, which came on after dinner on our way back to the car. I'm thinking it might have partly been the smog over the course of the day? Plus lots of talking? Plus maybe pre-existing thing I didn't notice before those worsened it? Dunno.
