I've been coming up in the weirdest of sentences :-) I tend to check people's preferred orientations and relationship structures before professing undying love for them.

I wonder how people are deciding I wouldn't be compatible with their friends (this meme has attempted to mate me with chasewisdom, scarpia, and perhaps other people I've never met). My dating preferences are weird and changeable. Though my current inclination is towards local people who are at least sometimes available on saturday nights!

I tried to stick to my assumptions about peoples' basic preferences for staying in long-term pair relationships versus poly... I expect you and scarpia would enjoy each other's company at, say, a dinner party, since you both have geek cred, lots of intelligence, and, at least, a common interest in food. But I also implicitly assumed "good couple" carried an expectation of more long-term than "date", which I sorta played fast and loose with (say, pairing me with a straight guy). So, if that question had been "date," I would've said "sure!"

Now I'm curious, would you have a different implicit assumption for the definition of "good couple"?

For the purposes of a silly meme, I would define "good couple" preeeeetty loosely. Compatible for any length and type of romantic/sexual relationship, even if they wouldn't realize it and date each other.

So I don't know whether to correct people when they say I'm not compatible with someone, until I at least know the gender, orientation and hairstyle of the person in question. For instance, if scarpia is a geeky foodie, is available to date women, and has curly blond hair, I should probably be introduced to him/her.

Fair enough definition of coupledom. I expect I'm just being arbitrary in my longterm-couple-ist sensibilities, so fooey on me. :)
