Today was pretty great.

Quaker Meeting: quite small. Cozy, I'd say. 4 people including me. We talked for 20+ minutes before Meeting about my parents' moving situation, which I think was useful for me.

As soon as I got home, [livejournal.com profile] melted_snowball and I zoomed off to Toronto for Writing Outside the Margins, a LGBTQ writer festival, where we hoped to see John Cameron Mitchell.

But first: awful traffic around Mississauga, so we diverted, and d. brought us to Saravanaa Bhavan, a marvelous south-Indian restaurant he discovered when he and [livejournal.com profile] the_infamous_j came down to pick me up from the airport in March and my plane was delayed. It's highly recommended. They persuaded me to get the "lunch special" which turned out to be breads, rice, and ten little dishes of curries, soups, more curries, rice pudding, milk curds, and so on. It was a bit too much, but very tasty. d. got a potato-based dosa, which I would've also been quite happy with. Yum.

Then, off to Toronto, parking at St. Lawrence, catching a train (being briefly diverted by their Buskerfest) up to the Gay Village, where we ran into the reading by John Cameron Mitchell just starting. This had a bit of a charmed feeling for me; I'm certainly glad we made it, since he could've easily been at 2pm instead of 3 and we'd have shown up just after he ended. We didn't stay for any of the other performers, nor did we buy any books from street-vendors; we got a train back to the waterfront (Leeloo Multipass!) and caught a ferry out to the Hanlan Point, where we lounged on beach towels and swam at the other end of Lake Ontario from where I was at my Grandma's place on Thursday. It was glorious. The water was just cold enough to be a shock, but warm enough to be fun for swimming.

And we lounged.

And then we met [livejournal.com profile] metalana for a fun dinner and chat, a few blocks east of St. Lawrence Market, and drove home.

Quite a wonderful 12 hour stretch. (Gah, only 12 hours?!) I have more I could write, but now it's quite time for bed.

*sigh* nowhere but in my head. at all.

And also, on reflection, I can't remember what problem I (once) had with Bruce Willis.

I amuse me.

hah, thought it might be something like that.

The problem I had with him is he was either typecast or genuinely uni-dimensional, but in a movie like that it didn't matter.
