Hi Ike

So I heard we had rain warnings this weekend for 5-10cm/2-3.9" total. The first storm is due today; the second, tomorrow, the remnants of hurricane Ike.

That seems like a lot of weather activity, but Google Maps makes it seem more immediate with their Fall Hurricanes map.

So, if we're washed away, it's been great knowing you.

(I kid, of course; we don't even have a Warning for our county. Um, yet. Which is good, because melted_snowball is supposed to be on a plane in seven hours.)

In 30 minutes I'm supposed to go stand on a bridge in Victoria Park and get photographed. I wonder if the rain will hit before, or after?

This is reminding me of the Colorado weather preparedness lesson I gave Z-man (age 3):

Tornado: go into the basement
Flash flood: find high ground
Lightning: Find shelter
Tsunami: Just sit down and find someone/thing to hug. It will all be over soon.

A hurricane (albeit mightily reduced in strength) in Toronto is not quite as odd a tsunami hitting Denver, but it still feels a bit bizarre.
