Ha ha, only serious
Wednesday, 12 October 2005 12:46 pmI'd say I have a good relationship with my boss.
Yesterday at the start of our weekly meeting, he said, "Now, I realize that failure to plan on my part doesn't imply an emergency on your part..." He paused and looked thoughtful. "Wait a minute, you report to me. So, yes it does."
That made my day, even though it was followed up with a batch of menial port-renumbering stuff. But he went with me and helped out, which is a good boss thing to do too.
...Today, with the followup part of that task that's also reasonably emergency-ish, I'm laughing less.
(For the curious, I'm upgrading the kernel and software for a linux dedicated-device, a Terminal Server that has gone through seven major revisions, each which must be applied in turn. Suckage... Though the device itself is pretty neat; it's like a switch for server serial-ports, so sysadmins can log onto 32 servers remotely if they respond to keyboard but don't respond to network. And it runs Linux from an internal flashcard, which means it's infinately customizable 'n stuff.)
