Dan, rover and I are at an inn a town over from home; we're spending the night, and tomorrow I'm going home, repacking, and heading off to a week with 1,000 or so Quakers.

The experience here has been delightful. They fed us well. We shared a table with three other couples, each with good stories. There were fireworks. Our room smells of wood fires. Tomorrow breakfast will be tasty.

The irony of going off to a Quaker gathering afterward is not lost on me.'that will also be good, but differently so. There probably won't be buttery croissants at Bowling Green State University.

Just make sure you Quakers stay away from the Hayward fault, okay? I'm hoping for a peaceful weekend.

I had a dream this morning that we got to the border and the US guard asked why we were going to Ohio and I said "Quakers" and he thought we were video-game players.

At least earthquakes would be good for a bit of respect, eh?

Ha! They probably detained you in your dream as well, because everyone knows people who play violent video games are murderers and terrorists.

If you could cause earthquakes, membership would probably soar.

I *almost* went this year. But I just couldn't quite get organized. That, and the fact that I've been traveling every weekend (or more) for two months meant that I had a TON to do around the house (of which I've done a reasonable amount, I suppose).

I heard the food was awful. No protein. I would have been so ill; my blood sugar wouldn't have held up on all those carbs.

I am glad I went. But I'll say if you were going to skip a year of the last batch, this would be the one to skip. The campus was brutal. :P

OTOH, you could've come off-campus with me for some of the 4 dinners I had with friends!... (or breakfast at Tim Hortons across the street from my dorm)...
