I almost convinced myself to drive to my parents' this morning, but after listening to the traffic weather around Toronto and talking to my folks (who are another four hours to the east, a bit North of the area that's gonna get plastered this afternoon), I bagged it in. As my mom put it, I could risk my life to be there for Thanksgiving, but why bother? (And yes, there is enough latent passive-aggressive subtext in that sentence to choke a horse).

Instead this morning, I opened my wallet: to the province to renew vehicle registration, to the auto shop for the clean-emissions test, and to the university for a parking pass for December. Maybe I can get enough done today to make me feel less guilty about skipping out on the folks.

At least I can distract myself with geekery tonight; I'm hanging out with some programmer friends over pizza.

Huh. When I saw you in DC a little while ago, it never even occurred to me that you shouldn't have been there.

Too bad about the weather preventing the trip, but yay for not risking your life. :)

oop, my browser ate my reply. :)

Yeah, yay for staying safe. Especially since the folks weren't guilt-trippy about it. Overtly.

You will be missed, but better to be safe ;-) There will always be more hectic holidays.

Yeah, I'm not so happy about missing it too. If the weather's good/enough-better on Saturday, I might be able to drive over then...

If it's any comfort, DH's bus took 3 (!) hours yesterday evening from Toronto to KW. Apparently road conditions on the 401 were really really bad. You would have spent all of yesterday going very very slowly, had you gone. So probably a wise choice to stay home...

You know, I don't know how I missed this one. I read your post immediately following this. I read the one just before it. I honestly thought you wouldn't be in today. Oh well.
