...We have this idea. It's simple, but very cool. The IRC conversation we just had went something like so:

12:30 <@daniel> that would make an excellent Dr. Who prop, if it hasn't been used already.
12:30 <@daniel> too bad I don't know anybody who works for them, I'd suggest it.
12:33 <@simon> I think you'd be surprised how connected you are.
12:33 <@simon> let's do an experiment, and see if we can get in touch with one of the writers for Dr. Who

So, yeah. I'm looking for somebody who writes for Dr. Who. Any leads?

[livejournal.com profile] blu_ghoti (on my flist) is a big Dr. Who fan; he has a link to http://www.gallifreyone.com/ on his userinfo page, which probably has lots of people who'd be willing to point you towards forums that Dr. Who writers are known to read.

Thanks; though I was looking for a peer-to-peer chain of contacts, it might be a bright idea to ask in a more Dr. Who-ish environment. I've registered for the forums on that site, so eventually I should be able to post my question there. ...I've also heard from a friend who used to work for the BBC; maybe that will lead somewhere.

I suppose I do!

I also need to start watching the new series. I spent a bit too long this afternoon browsing the wikipedia Dr. Who project. Something I had forgotten was that Russell T. Davies, a main writer for the new series, was also the main writer for Queer as Folk.. And (thanks [livejournal.com profile] lovecraftienne!) as a bonus, one of the actors, Noel Clarke, was in one of my very favourite BBC drama/comedies, Metrosexuality.

Whee.
