Multilingual Chick Peas
Sunday, 29 January 2006 12:24 amI think Mr. Goudas Chick Peas wins for multilingual-ness. I count twelve languages. I can't tell what some of them are, though. Dan and I talked about this previously, and didn't come up with conclusive answers for all of the languages, but
bats22 gave me the idea of running it through babelfish, which only has a few of the lanaguages, and actually those translations add more mystery.
...Any of the language geeks on my Friends list want to weigh in? :)

According to Babelfish, the left can's left-side language is Portugese. I'm not sure why there are two languages that look like Arabic; the second one might be Urdu? The one below that looks like Hindi or Sanskrit.
The right can's bottom lines are Spanish and Italian. The Chinese doesn't match what Babelfish says, for either Traditional or Simple translations. The Hebrew isn't at all like the translation provided by Wikipedia. And I have no idea what the language under the Chinese might be. [Edit: It's Tamil! What a cool script that is.]
If you'd like to look closer, clicking on the image gets you to my flickr page. (Lest you think I went to any real effort to post the pics, my photo-album program (f-spot) has an export feature that makes it easier for me to send photos to flickr, than resizing them myself and saving them to my own server.)

...Maybe that's one reason I like the container so much- efficiency is a good thing. ;)
