Hasidic pop singers
Sunday, 16 April 2006 10:05 pmSo, I was listening to "American Top 40" on "Zee-103.5" (Yes, it's a Canadian radio station and no I don't know why it isn't Zed-103.5. Probably for the same reason that they play American Top 40. Yes, it's mostly crap pop music, but some of it amuses me.) Like, say, this.
Matisyahu is a Hasidic reggae singer from Crown Heights NYC (you know, close to the Hassid neighbourhood that birthed Curley Oxide, the Hassidic punk singer. OK, maybe you don't know. OK, here).
Anyway, Matisyahu is sort of catchy. He's also at the top of Billboard charts. I hope he continues doing well.

Ah well, no accounting. :)
I'm curious what was said by/about him in the CNN broadcast though; I could see it being a vacuous interview.
