Christmas Travel
Tuesday, 28 December 2004 05:50 pmIt'll be nice to be home tomorrow. We spent three nights at dan's parents' house, near Ithaca, which was surprisingly easy. His parents didn't put the heat down to 50 degrees F, as they usually do; they didn't put us in separate bedrooms, as they did the last (and first) time we stayed at their house, and xmas morning was less stressful than it has been in the past, since there were only the four of us, and dan's mom cut down on xmas presents considerably. So we only had a bit of opening to do in the afternoon, instead of plugging on to 3pm or later. I'm pretty happy about that, but I think d. is much happier.
We spent Boxing Day with friends in Ithaca. First we went to Quaker Meeting, which was amusing because we got wrong directions of where to go. Fortunately, the directions were also wrong for time, so we arrived at the proper location at nearly exactly the proper time.
After Meeting and 1/2 an hour of catching up with people, we headed back downtown to our friends' Lee-Ellen and Diane's house for a splendid brunch of fritatta and bagels and cream cheese. We really miss Lee-Ellen and Diane. They were the folks we'd just drop in on when we were out for a walk; they are quite similar to us in many ways.
Dan spent the entire afternoon with them, playing board-games; I split my time and spent a couple hours with my friend Jeremy, who I roomed with while we were both students. He's working for Google now.
I need to go eat; will write more later.
