One of those...

There are days when things get to me, and others when I can make them slide off like so much water off a duck's back. This, unfortunately, was one of the former days. I blame lack of sleep, and general non-rootedness in my work right now. Also, the fact that the weekend wasn't terribly relaxing. And, missing dan. ...And job uncertainties, but that may be a rant for later.

Today's capstone was discovering at 5:30 that I deleted all the firewall rules on a dumb terminal server, which meant it wasn't accepting connections from anywhere at all, so I had to schlep over to the (cold) machine-room when I really wanted to go home. Fortunately, I only spent a few minutes there before deciding the easiest fix was to reboot the sucker, which only meant I had to redo my own changes from the last bit. Now it's fixed up and I can go home.

I guess overall, I feel dumb today. Things are taking longer for me to figure out than they should be. I'm doing things twice. I should've skipped the afternoon meeting my boss suggested I go to (which turned out to not be quite as relevant as I'd hoped).

I hope I have the oomph to come out to artsy fartsy night, as I could use some socializing and relaxing. Ve shall see.

If it's the meeting I'm thinking of (perhaps laptops were being discussed?) not sure why he'd have thought that was relevant. Oh well.

I went to one of those meetings - ick. I think they're kind of like self-flagellation for those involved. Penance for the sins involved in getting tenure or something.

Nope, not laptops. Classes to be covered by a new ISG/CSCF job.

It wasn't actually a bad meeting; the bulk was talking about proposed rules governing instruction standards.
