Breathing is good.

da: A smiling human with short hair, head tilted a bit to the right. It's black and white with a neutral background. You can't tell if the white in the hair is due to lighting, or maybe it's white hair! (Default)

I'm happy to report that we've got another Canadian Citizen in the house. I'm now outnumbered two to one with [livejournal.com profile] melted_snowball and [livejournal.com profile] roverthedog. But my time will come, oh yes. (Then they can throw me a party.)

Yesterday consisted of a bit of work in the morning, Dan's citizenship ceremony in the early afternoon, and a party chez nous in the evening.

It was great to see [livejournal.com profile] aleriel, [livejournal.com profile] lovecraftienne, [livejournal.com profile] thingo (and spouse and children), [livejournal.com profile] tbiedl (and spouse and children), [livejournal.com profile] elbie_at_trig, [livejournal.com profile] halfwitted (and housemate) and boyfriend [livejournal.com profile] arcykittah, [livejournal.com profile] mtffm, [livejournal.com profile] kourtney_short (and spouse), [livejournal.com profile] persephoneplace, [livejournal.com profile] bats22, a former grad student at the university (and child), and dan's choir conductor (and spouse).

There was food and drink a-plenty, five younguns (three four mobile), one hyper pup, the singing of the national anthem in four-part harmony, really great conversations, and oh, was that Captain Canuck wearing the cape? I'm not certain. Thank you all for coming! (sorry the timing was bad for other folks; we would've done it a different day if that were possible; as it is, dan's leaving on Monday for two weeks. Yeah, fooey.)

And now, I can breathe again, becuase the only things planned for today are dan's sister and spouse (arriving we're not sure when) and some amount of Canada Day celebration.

On that note, Happy 139th Birthday, Canada! You wear your years well; don't look a day over 100.

Sounds like a fun time. Sorry I didn't show. The job owns me a bit, and I was far too tired to socialize by the time I got home.

Yeah, I was guessing something just about like that. Hope you have a relaxing Canada Day! :)

If only that conference had been two weeks later... sigh.

That said, if you nudge us a number of months before YOUR celebration.. we will make a point of saving a trip north and west to celebrate with the 3 of you! (and then hopefully, you can all (Rover is most welcome here) come south a few months later in 2007 for our Civil Union and nuptials with our local Friends meeting!)

Happy Canada day to all! Oh.. and let us know if you do decide to come to Montreal. I've decided I will be going for sure last weekend of July, along with my friend Grace.. and [livejournal.com profile] annoak, if she doesn't end up going to that conf in San Fran.

oh yeah.. and we usually stay about 40 min south of the city.. camped out at a friend's in St. Jean sur Richelieu.. if you think you can make it let me know.. and drag a tent with you, and I'm sure that you could camp there too. It's a fun, international group that gathers at her house every year!

Hey! You're getting hitched (unionized?)! When!

As it happens, [livejournal.com profile] da_lj's parents are visiting us that weekend, so we can't go to Montréal.

Rmgh, that's one problem with barely seeing you between when they came and now; I didn't get a chance to tell you they are getting married. Some time next year, date as-of-yet unspecified (I believe).

Right.. date unspecified at the moment.. hopefully by fall we'll have a better idea, but we're hoping for sometime in August 2007. sorry Montreal won't work.. but let's find a time to get together that would work.

That... sounds like a plan.

Dan's business trip to Boston has been postponed, so we're likely not going in August now. I'll keep you updated. ;)

I thought Rover was downright placid, for Rover anyway.

Heh. She used up a lot of her bounce on the first guests, particularly the Short Beings who ran around more than the Tall Folk.

(I suppose the secret to calming down dogs and kids is to put them in the same place for a while).
