Breathing is good.
Saturday, 1 July 2006 10:42 amI'm happy to report that we've got another Canadian Citizen in the house. I'm now outnumbered two to one with
melted_snowball and
roverthedog. But my time will come, oh yes. (Then they can throw me a party.)
Yesterday consisted of a bit of work in the morning, Dan's citizenship ceremony in the early afternoon, and a party chez nous in the evening.
It was great to see
aleriel,
lovecraftienne,
thingo (and spouse and children),
tbiedl (and spouse and children),
elbie_at_trig,
halfwitted (and housemate) and boyfriend
arcykittah,
mtffm,
kourtney_short (and spouse),
persephoneplace,
bats22, a former grad student at the university (and child), and dan's choir conductor (and spouse).
There was food and drink a-plenty, five younguns (three four mobile), one hyper pup, the singing of the national anthem in four-part harmony, really great conversations, and oh, was that Captain Canuck wearing the cape? I'm not certain. Thank you all for coming! (sorry the timing was bad for other folks; we would've done it a different day if that were possible; as it is, dan's leaving on Monday for two weeks. Yeah, fooey.)
And now, I can breathe again, becuase the only things planned for today are dan's sister and spouse (arriving we're not sure when) and some amount of Canada Day celebration.
On that note, Happy 139th Birthday, Canada! You wear your years well; don't look a day over 100.

(and then hopefully, you can all (Rover is most welcome here) come south a few months later in 2007 for our Civil Union and nuptials with our local Friends meeting!)
Happy Canada day to all! Oh.. and let us know if you do decide to come to Montreal. I've decided I will be going for sure last weekend of July, along with my friend Grace.. and

Dan's business trip to Boston has been postponed, so we're likely not going in August now. I'll keep you updated. ;)

(I suppose the secret to calming down dogs and kids is to put them in the same place for a while).
