Pseudoephedrine == bad juju for me. It's been long enough that I've not taken it, that I decided I'd give it another try. Dumb, dumb.

Side effects may include (more common) Nervousness; restlessness; trouble in sleeping; (less common) dizziness or lightheadedness; fast or pounding heartbeat; headache.

Yup to all of those.

At least I'm not hallucinating. Though, y'know, the nervousness is really frustrating.

From the last time I was stupid enough to think I needed Sudafed, I should come down in an hour or two.

I have much the same problem: I'm in the "dizziness or lightheadedness" category.

It would be OK (not great) if I was dizzy-but-asleep. It's whatever causes me to wake up jittery that I hate the most.

I don't think I get the jittery so much. At least, I've not had problems drinking neo-citran before bed, and some varieties have pseudoeph in it. Hard to say right now which variety I drank historically though.

Next time I have a cold (may it be a long time!) I'll have to test the variety quingawaga bought because I got the apple flavoured stuff by accident.

(side rant: drug store neo-citran shelf has upwards of 10 varieties, covering multiple axes of drug contents and flavour, it's painfully confusing especially since they changed their packaging.)

I'm tickled that dawn_guy is also talking about the wonders of neo citran, today as well.

Makes me tempted to go out and find some, though I definitely don't want to have to navigate the decision tree to choose the right one. :/

Yeah, well, I'd like to be able to help. But it used to be Neo-Citran, one variety, lemon flavour. Good for what ails you. Now it's a panoply of Neo-Citrans and I'm as lost as you are.

According to the pharmacist at Pharma Plus, my decision tree hit a dead end. All of their neo-citrans use pseudephinephrine (or analogue) for the sinus relief.

On the bright side, she could recommend aceteminephin and antihistimines, which is what I'll take before bed tonight.

The thought crossed my mind. The not-dreams I had while I was trying to go back to sleep when I first woke up, made it clear that it wasn't a fun trip.

I've heard that people will pop a sudafed in order to stay alert and awake for highway driving.

The idea of being restless, faintly itchy, and lightheaded, while behind the wheel of car, or worse, an 18-wheeler, does NOT make me feel good at all. :)

I *love* pseudoephedrine when I have a sinus headache. I used to take Tylenol Sinus (which is Tylenol + pseudoephedrine, natch). Except, because pseudoephedrine is used to make crystal meth, it has been replaced with phenylephrine, which doesn't seem to work quite as well.

No jitteriness here! (But, then again, I drink a pot of coffee before leaving the house every day....)

Heh. Maybe I should ramp myself up to a pot of coffee and see if it helps.

Anyhow, the pharmacist steered me toward tylenol + antihistimine + throat losenge, which is prolly good enough for me.
