(no subject)

I almost convinced myself to drive to my parents' this morning, but after listening to the traffic weather around Toronto and talking to my folks (who are another four hours to the east, a bit North of the area that's gonna get plastered this afternoon), I bagged it in. As my mom put it, I could risk my life to be there for Thanksgiving, but why bother? (And yes, there is enough latent passive-aggressive subtext in that sentence to choke a horse).

Instead this morning, I opened my wallet: to the province to renew vehicle registration, to the auto shop for the clean-emissions test, and to the university for a parking pass for December. Maybe I can get enough done today to make me feel less guilty about skipping out on the folks.

At least I can distract myself with geekery tonight; I'm hanging out with some programmer friends over pizza.

I just called the regional transit authority to complain that they haven't replaced the bus-shelters at University and Seagram, which bodes for a very cold winter waiting to go home. They said they're replacing them next week, in fact with two shelters. I barely choked out a "thanks" I was so flabbergasted.
